John Shinnors

Limerick-born, John Shinnors studied drawing and painting at Limerick School of Art and Design from 1970 to 1972. He has exhibited his work throughout Ireland in many solo and group exhibitions and has supported the visual arts through the Shinnor’s Scholarship for an MA in Curatorial Studies in partnership with LIT, LSAD and Limerick City Gallery of Art, in addition to the Shinnor’s Drawing Award at LCGA. A member of Aosdána, his work is represented in private, public and corporate collections in Ireland and abroad, including The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, National Self-Portrait Collection and the Contemporary Irish Art Society, among others.

I find it hard to describe my response to the Madonna and Child in the Hunt Museum (HCM 031). I wouldn’t be able to convey that in writing, as I don’t think I would be doing it justice.
